Dr. Chris Snowden B.Med.Sci (Hons), FRCA, MD.
Chris trained and graduated in Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K. and became a Consultant Anaesthetist in 1997. His clinical week includes hepatobiliary (including liver and pancreatic transplantation), urology, vascular and orthopaedic surgery. Chris also has extensive experience in developing preoperative assessment pathways and cardiopulmonary exercise testing. He is currently Chief investigator on two NIHR Nationally funded projects on aspects of Perioperative medicine. In March 2015 he was appointed as National Clinical Lead (Joint) for Perioperative Medicine at the Royal College of Anaesthetists (England) and has recently been appointed as NHS England/NHS Innovation Lead for perioperative medicine and anaesthesia (GIRFT Program).
Clinical Interests: High-risk surgery: Preoperative Assessment: Prehabilitation : Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing: Perioperative Research interests include alcohol cessation, behavioural interventions and Exercise training. Chris’s overall work program aims to promote the transformation of the anaesthetist into the broader base of a perioperative specialist.
